Our week in SC started with a little hike...

We have been here before...the stumphouse tunnel and waterfall. This was a nice change from the inside of our car that we had been in for 14+ hours the previous day.

This picture of B and AM made me so nervous.

I think it made James nervous too... He just needed a closer look at the waterfall!

C loves playing with all his cousins. We spent some time climbing the rocks and throwing sticks into the stream leading to the waterfall.

Here's everyone...

Christmas in Texas

We celebrated Christmas with B's family before Dec 25th because we were going to SC and B's brother was going to Dallas. Here, C is decorating cookies...and by decorating cookies, I mean that he was eating all the sprinkles and licking the frosting.

AM got this beautiful dress. She immediately took off her jammies and had to put it on!

I love that AM is playing with C's saws-all...in her new pretty dress. That's our girl!

Luckily, our pups got plenty of attention from Uncle B-rad and Aunt T-bird... who incidentally haven't made wedding plans...YET!

The pups tried to relax in all the shrapnel.

Here is a video of the kids opening a present...nothing special, just a good memory for us!

I think it started back in 01...

The following post is from the husband.....

Back in December of 2001, K underwent her 2nd ACL reconstructive surgery. Lucky for me, we had only been married for 6 months, so she was still covered under the one year warranty I got from Papa. This warranty involved Gramma coming to town for a week or so to help out with getting K moved around, cooking, cleaning, etc. Since at the time we did not have kids, we spent a lot of time just hanging out and watching movies. We decided at one point to watch all three of the Godfather movies. The first two as you know were awesome (probably the 10th time I saw those) and the third one was a major disappointment (probably the last time I'll watch that one).

Little did we know, we officially started a tradition. Every time we get together with K's family for an extended period of time, we now select a series of movies to watch after the kids go to bed.

Here are some of the highlights from the last several years.

Anne of Green Gables...I don't remember being apart of this.
Star Wars
Lord of the Rings
Bad Boys...that's right...Bad Boys I and II, with K' sister
Lonesome Dove (probably my favorite)

This year, we have decided to go with some of the greatest movies from each sport: Hoosiers (basketball), Victory (soccer), Rudy(football) etc. However, we are having trouble coming up with a basball movie. We have narrowed down the choices to the following: Field of Dreams, The Natural, The Sandlot, League of their Own and Bang the Drum Slowly. We'd love your input.

Bath Time!

We really have a routine working here. Every night we eat dinner about 6pm. Then, bath time!! Followed by some book reading in the living room, maybe some tickle time...kids are in bed between 7:15-7:45pm. I am glad we have this established, but some days after a long day at work, I dread the prodding at dinner or the getting through bath time. Some days, I can't wait for the kids to go to bed so that I can veg-out and watch alittle TV and get on the ol' laptop.

I realize (thanks to a country song) that "I'm gonna miss this". Meaning that, I am soon going to long for the days when the kiddos needed me to bathe. I am going to wish they C or AM wanted me to take them to bed after reading them a story. So, I try and savor the nightly routine...

AM's hair is so long now. When it is wet, it is half way down her back. You would never know it with all those curls. Heaven knows where those came from.

We'll make a bath toy outta anything!

"Brush, Brush, Brush...Brush, Brush, Brush!" C can almost brush his teeth ALL by himself. He can't spit or anything, but that may be because we put the sinks too far into the counter.

Thanksgiving...Is a special time.

First, a week before Thanksgiving, the kids and I caught the continental.com deal to visit SC. The bumbo makes a great hat!

The cousins had some ups and downs sharing toys, books and Gramma's attention.

The weather was freakin freezing. Didn't seem to bother the kids as they threw sticks in the lake and the blistering wind blew them away.

Again cold, but kiddos managed to enjoy the park.

THEN, we stayed here for Thanksgiving and it was delicious. B helped his brother get on his way to Austin. We watched A LOT of football(much to C's chagrin), ate way too many calories(especially on FRYDAY), and enjoyed the time with the family(although I was hoping for a new kitchen).

I hope we just started a new tradition...

Tonight after dinner, B made a fire in our chiminea. Then, he ran to the store and bought some marshmallows. The family sat outside and roasted marshmallows. The experience was great and C wanted to spend the night in the back yard afterwards. Other than AM walking too close to the fire, everyone enjoyed themselves.

AM had some trouble eating the "mallows". B said its the perfect mallow goatee.

C did really well and was very patient. He only caught one marshmallow on fire.

"Drop...Drop...and Roll!"

That is what C says to do if your on fire. They have been learning some fire safety at school and visited a local fire department.

There is C at the bottom left...he is so cute:)

All the parents were mesmerized at how they could get all the 3 and 4 year olds to line up!

Took the kids to get some pictures...

C was so good:) AM was a 19 month old...she wouldn't sit still, she and C kept wrestling, and the whole process took 2 hours. They are pretty cute though.

The extra picture are the ones they "create" . All these specialty pictures are too expensive, so we don't buy them...but they let you look at them.

Halloween 08!

Here is how our Halloween went this year. Thursday at school the kids got to dress up and have a little parade through the gym:) See here, C is batman...currently without his mask.

After the parade, C class posed for pictures. The power ranger stole the show!!! So funny!!

Thursday evening, we carved pumpkins with Daddy!!

Then, on Friday night(Halloween), we went Trick or Treating around our street. Notice that C is now Spiderman :) AM is ELMO!!

Jack O Lantern... spooky?

Spiderman and Elmo reaping the fruits of their labor!

Pumpkin Patch 08

So, we took our annual trip to the pumpkin patch. By annual, I mean we went last year also.

I tried to get a picture of the kids. See now, they say "Cheese!", but they don't actually smile and look at the camera.

Here is C and I, AM couldn't be bothered. She was in one of her moods where all she says is "NO!" pout, pout, pout, "NO!"
They did like to mess with the pumpkin head scarecrow!

And they did like to play with the spider-filled corn!

Oh yeah!! C had a GREAT soccer game!!! He played goalie the first quarter and then played on the field...by himself...the rest of the game! Now, he didn't kick the ball, but he had a great time running around and we were so proud that he had some independence from us on the field!! We'll see what happens next week!

Pops bought him a big ol' sprinkle cone with chocolate ice cream! Sweet rewards!

Indiana Wedding

This past weekend, we traveled to Indiana for B's cousin's wedding. We had such a great time and were lucky enough to stay at the Matron of Honor's house. C loved this especially because he got to play with his cousin first thing each morning, but it did give us so much more time with family that we don't usually get when we stay at a hotel!

The wedding family!

Our Indiana family!

Look at all Great Grandpa's grandchildren and great grandchildren!

AM had fun sitting with Great Grandpa! She almost fell asleep at one point. He will be 95 this Jan.

All the Texas family!
